Architect of the Possible TM
The development and implementation of complex live experiential events offer exciting challenges and opportunities for each of the three pillars that support the event: the Creative, the Production, and the Leadership. The glue that binds those three pillars into a solid foundation is the passion that the expert team members bring to each stage of the process. We will be exploring all facets of the processes and talents that create this foundation, as well as the flair and imagination that enable innovative ideas to soar and inspire our audiences to action.
Why CPL?
Because we can answer one of the big questions event producers have: “I am responsible for a live experiential event coming up – what can possibly go wrong?” Well … with the complexity involved in the staging of modern events, there are not only highly specific marketing goals and the technical prowess necessary to accomplish them, but also critical human requirements regarding personalized connections, housing, meals, and transportation that must be handled with sensitivity and grace. Providing the leadership to ensure that this 360-degree experience meets —or, better yet, exceeds — expectations is our purview—the lead producer in the room. We build the experience from the ground up and finesse it through to an outcome of excellence.

Create
If Experiential Events were a Film, this phase would entail the Strategy, Concept, and Scriptwriting. If the events were a musical recording, the focus would be on the Songwriting. For events, this initial phase encompasses developing the Strategy and Creativity to achieve the goals expressed by our clients, typically executives from marketing and sales. And let’s not forget the creativity required regarding crafting the budget and timelines to meet those goals and expectations!

Produce
While creative thinking continues to be an important part of this phase as well, in order to make sure that all of our great ideas will work the way we envision them, we need to expand our team and take a deeper dive into the “black box” of technical specifications and potential limitations (yep, time for some Excel spreadsheets!). We will be digging into this in great detail, but some of those items on our checklist include the contracted time frame, venue features and constraints, transportation of gear and personnel, union rules and schedules, content development, client approvals, rehearsals, entertainment and banquet specifications, and many more. Stay tuned. We plan to reveal all.

Lead
How many leaders does it take to screw in a light bulb? Well… that’s a setup that offers many possibilities, all worth exploring as we focus on implementing live experiential events. Just as changing a light bulb can require coordination and clarity, implementing live experiential events depends on effective leadership working together toward a common goal. The EP ensures that every aspect of the event aligns with its goal, but effective execution depends on a skilled team of department leaders who work with the EP to manage all details efficiently. We will explore all of those leadership roles in this forum.

About Web Burrell
I am part of the legacy of creative producers who have “been there and done that” (for more years than many of us might want to reveal!), in theaters, ballrooms, on-location filming, directing, and producing, and in studios, museums, huge global public events, and boutique, start-up environments. Did I mention this work had taken me to four continents? And some of my friends & colleagues have surpassed that. And we will be sharing the wonderful qualities of this career that keep us coming back.
My colleagues and I will reveal to you the methods behind the creation of the magic that is at the heart of large-scale productions, and the excitement those experiential events bring to audiences – the dynamic audio, the large-screen images, the theatricality of a specially designed and fabricated environment, and many imaginatively interactive ways to engage everyone in the delight of learning and experiencing something new. All of those elements serve to create a visceral experience that will be remembered long after our audiences depart for the airport and home.
I look forward to hearing from you. I intend to address your inquiries in ongoing postings. And, if you have specific issues you’d like consultation on, I am available for private sessions as well.
